DetNews: How to keep college kids insured

When students turn 18, the rules for keeping them on a parents’ health and car insurance policies get a little complicated. You need to follow the procedures, or you could end up with a claim that is not covered.

The Detroit News has 6 tips to keep kids insured.

Be aware that it is a common request from the health insurance companies to ask for proof of full-time student status in order to keep young adults on a parents’ policy. Ask your college registrar’s office how to request that paperwork. You might also find the instructions in the orientation material.
