Debt Diva’s Spooktacular Halloween Costumes

Debt Diva has posted her list of frugal but still Spooktacular Halloween Costumes.

My favorite one from her suggestions:

Soldier Boy: Take your son’s camouflage clothing, toy weapons, add a little camo face paint, and you have a little GI Joe.

There was a year when my high school daughter dressed for Halloween as an “Army brat” with the help of a hand-me-down camo cap and jacket.

A friend’s teenage daughter was the “zombie bride” at a party one year. She bought the most awful bridal gown she could find at dollar day at the thrift store (something from the early to mid-80s with big puff sleeves and lace everywhere). She ripped the hem so the dress dragged and ripped the sleeves…just because. She “decorated” the dress with fake blood and made herself up with black and white makeup. Truly gruesome. I am not into this stuff, but in case someone else is…it was quite the costume and it cost a buck, plus the makeup and fake blood.

No, I wouldn’t dress up like that either, but it sounds pretty amusing!
