Fake tartar sauce

We’re having fish sticks with baked French fries and canned peas for dinner tonight.

But I don’t keep tartar sauce in stock.

Here’s my trick for fake tartar sauce: 1 tablespoon of mayo to 1 teaspoon of sweet pickle relish. Mix up as much or as little as you need for that day.

Paula, I’d never title this post as “fake tarter sauce” as homemade from mayo and relish is all that I’ve ever known! I never knew until I hit college that some actually buy it premade! I still keep a recycled jar in the fridge (more during Lent when more fish is on the table)filled w/ my own homemade tarter sauce. It keeps just fine!

I don’t remember when I started doing that, but it’s been a long, long time. And when we had dinner, my husband said he remembers his mom and sister doing that too!
