Museum Adventure Pass starts year 3
This post is for my readers in southeast Michigan:
The Detroit Museum Adventure Pass, which is a program allowing those with library cards at participating southeast Michigan libraries to request free museum passes in the area, has started its third year of grant funding.
Monroe County Library System is participating for its second year. Milan Public Library and Flat Rock Public Library also are involved in this project. Macy’s and other partners are the corporate sponsors that make this program work.
Here’s how it works: you go to your participating library branch and use your library card to “check out” a museum pass. The free pass is valid for seven days and good for either two people or four people, depending on the location.
This is a great program for southeast Michigan families on a budget. I visited the Arab-American Museum in Dearborn and the Detroit Institute of Arts this year via the Museum Adventure Pass.

We love this program. I was recently speaking with my librarian and she pointed out that some museums such as the DIA and Cranbrook won’t be participating this year. But there are new ones added.
One tip she gave us last year to make it possible to get extra passes for your whole family is that each library card holder may get passes. So if your children have their own library cards they could get passes also.
This helps for larger families who would like to take part in this but cannot afford to and need more than 2 passes.

Kristie, thanks for heads up on the DIA! I was lucky to get a ticket during year 2 since Monroe wasn’t on the library list in year 1.
Arts & Scraps is next on my “sightseeing” list, but I’m not sure yet when I can schedule a visit.

I was glad I didn’t miss the DIA either. One of my most favorite places to visit! Arts & Scraps is supposed to be pretty great too!
