This post is for my readers in the Toledo area. Yes, southeast Michigan residents, you are welcome to shop too:
Planned Pethood of Toledo is sponsoring a Prom Dress Resale from 4 to 9:30 p.m. Friday March 26, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday March 27, and 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday March 28 at the Arcade Shoppes in Country Charm Shopping Plaza, 110 W. South Boundary St., Perrysburg, Ohio.
‘Regardless of the economy, every young woman wants to go to her prom feeling good about herself in a beautiful gown,’ Chrissa Liskai, Planned Pethood board member, said in the announcement.
The public is invited to shop at the dress sale for low-cost formal wear.
In preparation for the sale, Planned Pethood is accepting gently used and clean formal dresses, shoes and accessories by March 20 during business hours at First Federal Bank, 1077 Louisiana Ave., Perrysburg, Ohio. Those who are unable to deliver dresses to the bank branch may contact Jane Holman at (419) 866-1790 or at jholman072@aol.com.
Proceeds from this resale will go toward the mission of Planned Pethood. This agency provides medical treatment and behavior rehabilitation for animals that come into its care, and offers adoptable animals to the public. For information, go to www.plannedpethood.org.

I went and took my granddaughter on our way to Toledo to shop for prom dresses. She got one there for $30 that looks awesome. It will have to be dry cleaned and the hem taken up but it is still way cheaper than the $379 (gasp $379) dress she tried on just for fun. We did get her a second dress at Penney’s because she has 2 proms and just because she has never had a brand new fancy dress for anything. Penney’s dress was on sale and we got a 15% off coupon at the door for “loyalty” or some such thing. That $200 dress cost $129. Both dresses can be shortened to knee length and worn again for Homecoming or similar situations next year.
