I have a corner in the dining room where I put my handbag and phone.

It’s also become the place where I unceremoniously dump the things I need to drop off at the library or Goodwill or to my parents’ home.

But I like this idea from The Red Chair Blog and I may do something like it after we rearrange our living space this winter: DIY storage for transient items. It involves racking up a series of boxes on a shelf, and each box is labeled with the destination. The idea as shown is meant to go into a mud room or closet.
