One of the community Easter egg hunts in Monroe, Mich., includes a mobile food pantry service shortly after the kids have picked up their prizes.

The organizers were prepared with food boxes for up t0 300 families who showed proof that they lived in Monroe County, Mich.

Mike Smith, AFL-CIO Community Services Liaison for the United Way of Monroe County, explained that the need for the mobile pantry has grown since it began five years ago.

“The No. 1 request when people call 211 is for food,” Mr. Smith said.
