Dundee Farmers Market, which is in the municipal parking lot on Tecumseh St. next to Devine Delights, in Dundee, Mich., will host a Mother’s Day Flower Sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday May 11.

There will be hanging baskets, flats of flowers and some crafts available that day.

The market’s Opening Day with its regular vendors will be May 18, with the regular season hours from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays and 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays through mid-October.

The Opening Day is sponsored by Monroe Bank and Trust and includes live music from The Frenchtown Fiddlers and Dave Angerer along with free soft serve ice cream from Devine Delights ice cream, and a bounce house and other activities for the kids.

A “Seed and Plant Exchange and Sale” also will take place on May 18 where participants can trade or buy seeds for flowers, vegetables and herbs.

The items available for purchase during season will include locally grown vegetables such as lettuce, asparagus, onions, Michigan strawberries, eggs, honey and lamb. There also will be crafts and baked goods such as bread, cookies and cupcakes.

The market will again accept Michigan Bridge Card for payment and will match bridge card purchases up to $20 through the Double Up Food Bucks program after July 1. For information about Double Up Food Bucks go to doubleupfoodbucks.org. The market also participates in Project Fresh and Market Fresh (formerly Senior Project Fresh), which are state-run programs.

The market takes credit cards for any vendor.

Dundee Farmers Market is in its fourth year and is designed to bring healthier and fresher food to the area and support local farmers. The market is run by the Dundee Downtown Development Authority and the Dundee Farmers Market Committee.
