			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><em>This post is for my readers in and near Milan, Mich., and was in Tuesday&#8217;s edition of The Monroe Evening News:</em></p>
<p>Campfire Bar-B-Q Grille Restaurant will host its 26th annual Thanksgiving Day Feast on Nov. 26.</p>
<p>It will offer free Thanksgiving dinners to seniors 62 and older and the less fortunate. Others will incur charges of $8.99 for adults and $6.99 for children 12 and younger.</p>
<p>The restaurant, 1035 Dexter St., Milan, Mich., will be open from noon to 5 p.m. Thanksgiving Day to serve dinners.</p>
<p>Meals will include turkey or ham with mashed potatoes, gravy, green bean casserole, a tossed salad and the choice of pumpkin or sweet potato pie.</p>
<p>Because more than 300 meals were served last year, those planning to attend are encouraged to make reservations by calling (734) 439-8889.</p>

The 700-minute family plans aren&#8217;t always the smallest plan now.</p>
<p>And when I was spot-checking family plan prices for a couple of companies to see what he was talking about, I also found at least one national wireless company offers a discounted &#8220;senior plan&#8221; for those age 65 and older.</p>

<p>Youngsters: Did you ever wonder why grandma would rather buy you stuff than give you money for birthday and Christmas? It&#8217;s because she can get more at the store for that money than you can. Cooperate with your family elders and either go shopping with them on senior discount days so you can help pick out gifts, or make sure they have a detailed list of who wears what sizes.</p>

Custer Rd., Monroe, Mich., has a limited grant subsidy that will be available from Nov. 1 to Dec. 15 to help disabled adults and seniors who are residents of Monroe County, Mich., get ready for the holidays.</p>

<p>The <strong>AARP/Walgreens Wellness Tour</strong> is scheduling stops in the area. The dates and times announced by the tour representatives are:</p>
<ul>
<li>Saturday Oct. 17: Noon-6 p.m., Walgreens, 925 Woodville Rd., Toledo, Ohio.</li>
<li>Sunday Oct. 18: Noon-6 p.m., Walgreens, 10003 Fremont Pike, Perrysburg, Ohio.</li>
<li>Monday Oct. 19: noon-6 p.m., Walgreens, 1285 N. Monroe St., Monroe, Mich.</li>
</ul>
<p>The tour aims to make much-needed health screenings available to adults age 18 and older, along with information intended to increase the chances for early detection of chronic disease and other potential health problems. The six free screenings take place inside the customized vehicle and include total cholesterol levels, blood pressure, bone density, glucose levels, waist circumference and body mass index.</p>
<p>Collectively the six health screenings are worth more than $140 in value. The services provide adults with a critical foundation for early disease detection and no appointment is necessary.</p>
<p>Visitors also have access to free educational information on a health and wellness issues that are available in both English and Spanish.</p>
<p>Free, one-year AARP memberships will be given to all adults who receive screenings.  Participants under the age of 50 can pass on the free membership to an eligible adult, and existing members will receive a one-year extension on their current membership status.</p>
