Phony cashier’s checks drawn on Waterford Bank of Toledo, Ohio, are being used as part of a mystery shopper scam letter.
The checks are being mailed with letters from Shoppers Challenge Inc. in amounts of about $4,998, notifying the recipient that they have been selected to be part of the company’s mystery-shopping crew.
Instructions are for the recipient to cash the check and wire part of the money to a third party. But the checks are bogus.
