Ford Motor Co.’s 2010 hybrids — the Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan — will qualify this year for the $3,400 federal tax credit, the highest credit amount ever offered for hybrids purchased or placed in service after Dec. 31, 2005.
The Fusion hybrid’s is rated 41 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway, which tops the Toyota Camry Hybrid by 8 mpg in the city and 2 mpg on the highway. Taken together, Fusion’s fuel savings and tax incentive can help offset the higher initial purchase price compared to a conventional gasoline-powered vehicle.
