Bauer Nike recalls kids hockey sticks

Friday, March 19th, 2010

Bauer/Nike is recalling about 100,000 youth and junior hockey sticks made between 2004 and 2008 because the paint on them has been found to contain excessive levels of lead.
Those with the affected models can get a free replacement stick.
Concerns are that kids might ingest lead, a neurotoxin, if they handle the sticks with sweaty hands and then touch their hands to their mouths or other parts of their bodies.

Coring was found in more than 60 percent of the needles sampled, though there have been no reports of adverse effects in patients. The needles also can cause leaking from the ports.
