The Monroe County Historical Society has just announced that sales of 2008 Custer Celebration Event limited edition prints “General Custer’s Monroe” are now underway. Artist Sherie Chaffee of Belleville, Michigan was commissioned to create a painting that reflected George Custer’s ties to Monroe.

Prints have been made of Chaffee’s original painting and are now on sale for $20 at: Martin’s Shoes, Frenchie’s, and The Book Nook.

Chaffee’s painting is on display in the store window of the former United Furniture building located near Loranger Square.

Can’t get to downtown Monroe? Don’t fret. You can order prints by mail for $30, which includes shipping and handling.
