Welcome to the weekly buzz, a segment that offers listings of upcoming shows, movies and local and regional events. It appears every Thursday. Please feel free to add any pop culture information if you don’t see it here. 

TV NEWS

–Here’s a “24” spoiler: Tony Almeida is coming back from the dead (yeah!). The two-hour premiere is at 8 p.m. Jan. 13, then it moves to its regular Monday night slot at 9 p.m. Jan. 14. The season will go through June.

–Game Show Network (GSN) will be airing a marathon of the “Match Game” on Saturday, Sept. 22, in tribute of Brett Somers. The panelist died last Saturday. The tribute will air from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

–PJ Harvey is releasing a new album, “White Chalk,” on Tuesday. It’s a follow-up to her 2004 album, “Uh Huh Her.”

–The White Stripes have canceled all remaining tour dates through the end of the year. It’s due to Meg White’s acute anxiety, and she’s unable to travel. Ticket holders can get refunds.

LOCAL EVENTS

–The annual POW-MIA Ceremony will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Heck Park, 1095 N. Dixie Hwy.

–The 3rd annual Oktoberfest will be held from 1 to 11 p.m. Saturday at Holy Ghost Lutheran

Church and School, 3589 Heiss Rd. German music, dancing and food will be available. Bake sales, auctions, dancing lessons, and kids activities also will take place.

–A fall festival is being held from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at Nature Center of Oakwoods Metropark, Willow Rd., near Flat Rock. Live music, a rock wall to climb, petting zoo, games, and other activities will take place. For more information, call 782-3956 or visit www.metroparks.com.

–Monroe Family YMCA Corporate Cup 2007 challenge will be Friday through Sunday. Nine local companies are participating in the challenge, which includes bowling, dodgeball, and basketball.

–Outlaw Pro Wrestling presents “Superstar Showdown” on Saturday. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., show starts at 7 p.m. at Arthur Lesow Community Center, 120 Eastchester St. –St. Anthony Catholic School reverse raffle and Vegas night will be Saturday at the school, 4635 St. Anthony Rd., Temperance. Doors open at 6 p.m., gaming and reverse raffles at 7 p.m. Cost is $30 each. Cash bar is available. Tickets available at the door.

–Antiques and Autos Show at Monroe County Community College will be held on Sunday. The auto show is from noon to 4:30 p.m., and the antique show is from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Welch Health

–A World War II exhibit will open at 2 p.m. Sunday at Monroe County Historical Museum, 126 S. Monroe St. 

REGIONAL EVENTS

–The Webster Fall Festival will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Webster Church, 5484 Webster Church Rd., Dexter. Crafts, rummage sale, antique sale, hay rides, children’s zoo and more.

–The Frankenmuth Oktoberfest begins today through Sunday in Frankenmuth. For details, call (800) 386-3378.

–Helluvo Rodeo, also known as Pinckney Community Rodeo, is a one-day professional rodeo event. It will be held Sunday in Hell, Michigan. (That’s right, it’s in HELL!) Besides the rodeo, a bunch of other activities will be held, like a petting zoo, pony rides, carnival games, music, old-fashioned portraits, and more.

–The Hillsdale County Fair will be held Friday through Sept. 27. For details, visit www.hillsdalecountyfair.org.

–Old Town BluesFest is a two-day music festival on Friday and Saturday in Lansing. Ethnic food, beer, wine, and more will be on hand. Art, clothing and craft vendors will be available, as well as art galleries.
