“Semi-Pro” no blockbuster; still takes top spot
Will Ferrell’s comedy “Semi-Pro” fell short of all expectations by only earning $15.3 million at the box office over the weekend.
Despite its poor debut, it still managed to grab the number one spot. Analysts believe “Semi-Pro” suffered because it was rated R, while Ferrell’s big hits like Talledega Nights and Blades of Glory were rated PG-13.
Last week’s number one, “Vantage Point,” dropped to second place with $13 million. It’s two-week total is $41 million.
