‘Smart’ rules; ‘Guru’ bombs

“Get Smart” starring Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway hauled in $39.2 million in its debut to claim the No. 1 spot at the box office this weekend.

The movie, based on the 1960s spy sitcom, dominated over Mike Myers’ debut of his film, “The Love Guru,” which only generated $14 million for fourth place.

Kung Fu Panda and the Incredible Hulk continued to do well, finishing second and third respectively.

3. The Incredible Hulk, $21.6 million

4. The Love Guru, $14 million

5. The Happening, $10 million

6. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, $8.4 million

7. You Don’t Mess with the Zohan, $7.2 million

8. Sex and the City, $6.5 million

9. Iron Man, $4 million

10. .The Strangers, $1.9 million

    Get Smart looks okay overall, though Steve Carell seems to be veering more and more toward slapstick-style humor
