Dark Knight tops $500 million

Over the weekend, the Dark Knight became the second-highest grossing film of all-time.

It earned another $11 million over the holiday weekend, raising its domestic total to $502.4 million. It hit the mark in just over six weeks - half the time it took Titanic.

Titanic remains No. 1 on the domestic charts with $600.8 million.

Tropic Thunder took the top spot over the holiday weekend with $14.3 million, followed by Babylon A.D. with $12 million.
