Don’t miss SCARY TV lineup!

It’s October, which means a month long marathon of horror movies on TV!!

For those of you who love scary movies, be sure to catch these TV networks airing horror flicks this month.

Here’s the lineup:

Tonight on the Travel Channel, the show “Most Haunted Live” will attempt to contact the ghosts at Gettysburg. The live investigation will air from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m.

–The Sci Fi channel is currently airing “31 Days of Halloween.” For a full schedule, visit www.scifi.com.

–AMC’s “FearFest 2008″ begins Oct. 24 through Halloween. For a full schedule, go here.

TV NEWS

-HBO has renewed “Entourage.” Production on the sixth season will begin early next year and will air by summer, 2009. The fifth season continues to air at 10 p.m. Sundays.

-”Star Wars: The Clone Wars” became Cartoon Network’s most-watched series premiere ever. The computer-animated series averaged 4 million total viewers in its debut at 9 p.m. Fridays. The previous record holder was the April 18 series premiere of “Ben 10: Alien Force” with 2.9 million total viewers.

-FX has canceled “The Riches.”

-TBS has renewed “My Boys” for a third season. Like season two, it will only be a 9-episode season. It will debut in early, 2009.

MUSIC NEWS

-Tokyo Police Club will make a guest appearance on ABC’s “Desperate Housewives” in November. They will be featured as one of the musical acts in a battle of the bands at a local club. Currently, the band is on the road with Weezer.

-Depeche Mode will release its 12th studio album in early spring, 2009.

-Kanye West has moved up his album release to Nov. 25. It had been expected Dec. 16.

-Dire Straits officially announced that there will be no reunion tour for the group that rocked the ’80s.

-Taylor Hicks, 2006 American Idol, will release the follow-up to his self-titled debut Feb. 10. It will be released through an independent artist-services company instead of a major label.

LOCAL EVENTS

–Waltz Old-Fashioned Homecoming Festival rain date has been rescheduled for Saturday. The Elvis Tribute will be at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Rustic Village Hall on Bismarck St. and will be combined with a barn dance. For more information, call (734) 753-4416.

–A “Fall Funforall” will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Lake Erie Metropark pool complex area, 32481 W. Jefferson Rd. in Brownstown Township. Several activities will be held, such as children running through a straw maze, paint a pumpkin, hayrides and more.

–The annual Monroe Area CROP Walk will be Sunday, starting from the gym at St. Mary Grade School in Monroe. Registration is at 1 p.m., followed by a celebration at 1:45 p.m. and the walk at 2 p.m.

–A Fall Festival will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Jacob’s Garden, 4570 Sterns Rd., Ottawa Lake. For details, call 568-6868.

–Kids Weekend II will be held Saturday and Sunday at Erie Orchards and Cider Mill, 1235 Erie Rd. Children’s entertainment and magic shows all weekend. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday with a special family fun night from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a Halloween costume open to kids up to age 10 beginning at 3 p.m. For more information, visit www.erieorchards.com.

REGIONAL EVENTS

–Tecumseh will host its Appleumpkin Festival on Saturday and Sunday. Activities include an antique street fair, arts and craft booths, midway rides, children’s activities, entertainment and more.

–Chainsaw Creek Haunted Attraction is Thursday through Sunday at Westfield Franklin Park mall parking lot, located on Sylvania Ave. side of Talmadge in Toledo.

–Octoberfest ‘08 in the Warehouse will be from 3 p.m. to midnight Saturday on Huron St., between Monroe and Washington Sts. in downtown Toledo. Free admission from 3 to 5 p.m.; admission is $5 after 5 p.m.

Here is the latest movie and casting news:

–Will Smith is on board for a prequel to “I Am Legend.” No word on when filming will begin.

–Ben Affleck is looking to join “The Company Men.” The drama tells of a man whose life is ruined after being laid off and must deal with the financial consequences and fallout at home.

–Kirsten Dunst is in for “Spider-Man 4.” Director Sam Raimi and co-star Tobey Maguire will be back as well.

–The sequel to “Kung Fu Panda” will be released on June 3, 2011. Jack Black and Angelina Jolie have signed on to reprise their voice roles in the film. The original flick will be released on DVD on Nov. 9.

–Warner Bros. is serious about a “Yogi Bear” movie. They hired executive producers to pen a screenplay. Yogi Bear is based on the cartoon series of a bear in the fictional Jellystone Park, who would steal food from visiting tourists and evade capture by Ranger Smith.

Chihuahua rules box office

“Beverly Hills Chihuahua” was No. 1 at the box office this weekend.

The comedy is about a spoiled dog lost in Mexico, featuring the a talking Chihuahua with Drew Barrymore’s voice. It hauled in $29 million.

Last week’s No. 1, “Eagle Eye,” fell to No. 2 with $17.7 million.

The debut of “Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist” opened at a mildly successful $12 million. It stars Michael Cera and Kat Dennings as teens who fall for each other on a wild night in New York City.

TV NEWS

–This week, Anne Hathaway hosts Saturday Night Live with musical guest The Killers. On Oct. 18, Josh Brolin will be the host with musical guest Adele. On Oct. 25, Mad Men’s Joe Hamm will host along with musical guest Coldplay.

–TCM is airing a 24-hour Paul Newman movie marathon on Oct. 12.

–Fox has canceled Do Not Disturb, the sitcom starring Jerry O’Connell.

–Sarah Michelle Gellar is returning to TV with a half-hour HBO show called “The Wonderful Maladys.” The show follows the lives of three siblings who face dysfunction after losing their parents at a young age.

–Lifetime has claimed the rerun rights to How I Met Your Mother. The network will begin airing reruns of the comedy show in fall, 2010.

LOCAL EVENTS

-Airport Band Boosters is hosting the annual Haunted Forest in the area between Airport High School and Sterling Elementary School at Carleton and Fessner Rds. It’s not advisable for small children except during the trick or treat matinee on Oct. 25. It’s open Friday, Saturday, Oct. 10, Oct. 11, Oct. 17, Oct 24, Oct. 25, Oct. 31 and Nov. 1.

-The Huron Township Applefest will be held Saturday and Sunday at the festival grounds, 37269 Huron River Dr., New Boston.

-St. Stephen’s Catholic Church is holding its annual Applefest Craft Show from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. The church is located at 18858 Huron River Dr., New Boston.

-Olde Schoolhouse Commons will hold its annual fall festival from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. It includes wood carving, knitting, rug hooking, spinning, children’s activities and pumpkin decorating. It’s located on Secor Rd. in Lambertville.

-A Scarecrow Contest and Harvest Festival Craft Show will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1920 Lewis Ave., Ida.

REGIONAL EVENTS

-Chainsaw Creek Haunted Attraction will be open Friday through Sunday from dark until 11 p.m. at Westfield Franklin Park mall parking lot, located on the Sylvania Ave. side at Talmadge in Toledo. Cost is $10 per house and $20 for all four houses.

-The Trenton Scarecrow Festival will be held from Friday through Sunday in Trenton. Several contests, events, entertainment and a Scarecrow Idol singing competition will be held. For more information, call (734) 675-7325.

-The Haunting at Lenawee County Fairgrounds will be held from 7 p.m. to midnight Fridays and Saturdays and from 7 to 10 p.m. weekdays and Sundays. It has more than 50 ‘rooms of doom’ and 40,000 square feet of haunted house delights. It’s open Friday through Sunday and various days in October, as well as Nov. 1 and Nov. 2 at the fairgrounds, 602 Dean St., Adrian.

-Gibraltar Trade Center will host a sports card, antique and collectibles show this weekend. Show times are noon to 9 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the trade center, 21207 Eureka Rd., Taylor.
