Who’s top moneymaker in music?

The Material Girl ruled last year, according to Billboard’s Moneymakers List of 2008.

Through albums, concerts, ringtones and digital track sales, Madonna easily topped the list.

Here’s a breakdown of the top 5:

1. Madonna: $242.2 million

2. Bon Jovi, $157.2 million

3. Bruce Springsteen, $156.3 million

4. The Police, $110 million

5. Celine Dion, $99.2 million

-”True Blood - The Complete 1st Season” will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray on May 19.

-Patrick Swayze signed on to write about his life. The memoir will be published this fall.

-Mandy Moore’s new album, “Amanda Leigh,” will be released May 26.

-Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman have signed up to do a comedy together called “The Baster.” It centers on an insecure man who finds out his best friend wants to have a child through artificial insemination. He replaces her donor’s ’gift’ with his own…forcing him to live with the secret that he is the child’s father. Shooting begins this spring.

-Nick Cannon is replacing Jerry Springer as the host of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent.” The show returns for a fourth season this summer.

-”S. Darko,” the Donnie Darko spin-off film, will not play theatrically and will instead go directly to DVD on April 28.

‘Dancing’ announces new cast

“Dancing with the Stars” released its list of celebrities competing in its eighth season.

The new season begins at 8 p.m. March 9 on ABC.

Here’s the list:

Moviegoers into ‘Not into You’

As expected, the star-studded romantic comedy “He’s Just Not That Into You” was No. 1 at the box office.

Starring several well-known actors, such as Ben Affleck and Drew Barrymore, the movie drew $27.5 million in its debut.

Staying close in second was last week’s No. 1, “Taken.” The thriller starring Liam Neeson earned $20.3 million, bringing its 10-day total to $53.4 million.

Steve Martin’s debut for “The Pink Panther 2,” however, was a disappointment. It earned $12 million for fourth place.

-TNT is renewing “Leverage,” starring Timothy Hutton.

-TNT’s new series, “Trust Me,” isn’t doing well in the ratings. It lost about 65 percent of its audience from its Jan. 26 premiere, which drew 3.4 million viewers thanks to The Closer lead-in. On Monday, however, it only had 1.9 million viewers. The show stars Eric McCormack and Tom Cavanagh.

-ABC Family has canceled “Kyle XY” but renewed “Greek.”

‘Taken’ nabs box office gold

Liam Neeson’s thriller “Taken” took home an easy victory at the box office this weekend.

It debuted with $24.6 million, while last week’s No. 1, “Paul Blart: Mall Cop,” fell to second place with $14 million. But its two-week tally stands at an impressive $83.4 million.

Other debuts included “The Uninvited,” which earned $10.5 million for third place, and Renee Zellweger’s comedy, ”New in Town,” which didn’t do so good. It only made $6.8 million for eighth place.
