‘Taken’ nabs box office gold

Liam Neeson’s thriller “Taken” took home an easy victory at the box office this weekend.

It debuted with $24.6 million, while last week’s No. 1, “Paul Blart: Mall Cop,” fell to second place with $14 million. But its two-week tally stands at an impressive $83.4 million.

Other debuts included “The Uninvited,” which earned $10.5 million for third place, and Renee Zellweger’s comedy, ”New in Town,” which didn’t do so good. It only made $6.8 million for eighth place.
