The list, adjusted for inflation, shows that classic movies rule the industry.

2. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, $1.4 billion

3. Bambi, $1.2 billion

4. Star Wars, $1.13 billion

5. Pinocchio, $1.11 billion

Sorting ticket sales, especially from years ago, can be tricky. Here is the top 5 list according to Box Office Mojo’s figures:

2. Star Wars, $1.3 billion

3. The Sound of Music, $1.03 billion

4. ET, $1.02 billion
