-Eminem’s new album, “Relapse,” has sold more copies in its first week of release than any other albums this year. It sold 608,000 copies.

-John Lithgow will play the latest serial killer in the next season of “Dexter.” He’ll be in all 12 episodes of Season Four, which premieres Sept. 27.

-The 2009 MTV Movie Awards, hosted by SNL star Andy Samberg, will air at 9 p.m. Sunday.

-Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz will co-star in an action comedy called “Wichita.” Cruise will play a secret agent who pops in and out of the life of a single woman.

-Seann William Scott and Adam Brody are joining Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan in a comedy called “A Couple of Dicks.” It’s an action comedy directed by Kevin Smith about a maverick cop (Willis) and his partner (Morgan) who tangle with a memorabilia-obsessed gangster while tracing a valuable stolen baseball card.

-Production began Wednesday on Season 8 of “24.” Several new members have joined the cast. Freddie Prinze Jr. will be a regular, playing a Marine veteran who runs CTU Field Ops; Chris Diamantopoulos as the president’s new chief of staff; John Boyd as a CTU systems analyst; Anil Kapoor as a Middle East leader, and Jennifer Westfeldt as a journalist.

-Zach Braff is in negotiations to direct, rewrite and co-star in a comedy “Swingles.” Cameron Diaz will star in the film based on a bachelor who is dumped by his wingman and teams up with a woman he can’t stand in order to meet singles.

-Lifetime has picked up 12 episodes of a comedy called “Sherri,” starring The View’s Sherri Shepherd. She will continue to co-host The View while doing the comedy series.

-The “Bazooka Joe” comic strip that comes with Bazooka bubble gum is being made into a feature film.

-Bravo’s newest spinoff of ‘Housewives’ is “The Real Housewives of D.C.” It will follow female power players in the nation’s capitol. They are now casting for the series.

-HBO will launch its new comedy series “Hung” on June 28. The 10-episode run is based on a well-endowed man who wants to cash in on his assets. Thomas Jane (The Punisher) stars in the show along with Anne Heche and Jane Adams.

-Steven Speilberg and Dreamworks have gained access to the rights of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. but legal action may stop the studio’s access to Dr. King’s life. Bernice King said the family does not have their blessing but Dreamworks says it won’t stop the project.
