-Phil Harris, the ‘Deadliest Catch’ captain who died last week, will be featured in the new season of the Discovery Channel show debuting in April. The first eight episodes will highlight his fishing adventures last October through December.
-On Tuesday, “American Idol” beat the Olympics by 4 million viewers. In sad and disturbing news, “Lost” has been dropping viewers in the past 3 weeks, going from 12.1 million to 11.1 million to Tuesday’s 9.8 million.
-Several songs of “The Doors” will be featured in Sunday’s episode of “Cold Case.” Seven songs will be played while the team investigates a 1971 death of a teenager.
-The CW has picked up five series for next season. Shows returning in fall, 2010, are Supernatural, Gossip Girl, 90210, America’s Next Top Model and Vampire Diaries.
-’Freaks and Geeks’ Paul Feig and Judd Apatow are re-teaming for a movie. It will be a comedy starring Kristen Wiig (SNL) about two women battling to plan their friends’ wedding party.
-The wait for a new album from Rufus Wainwright is almost over. His sixth studio album, “All Days Are Nights: Songs for Lulu” will be out April 20.
-Steven Spielberg may be working on a TV show soon. He is in negotiations to join Fox’s drama “Terra Nova,” which follows a family from 100 years in the future who travel back in time 150 million years to the strange and inhospitable environment of pre-historic earth.
-Christoph Waltz (Inglourious Basterds) is in talks to join the cast of “Water for Elephants,” based on the novel by Sara Gruen. He would co-star with Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon.
-NBC has picked up a comedy pilot “Friends with Benefits” from (500) Days of Summer writers. It’s about five friends who get involved with FWB relationships while searching for love.
-Emily Robison and Martie Maguire of the Dixie Chicks will release new music under the name “Court Yard Hounds.” Their new album will be out May 4.
-The Griswold’s will once again be on the big screen with another ‘Vacation’ movie. It will feature Rusty Griswold all grown up. He’ll take his wife and kids on a road trip to Wally World before it closes forever. Chevy Chase will be coming back as Clark Griswold, now a grandfather.
-Susan Sarandon is in talks to star in a film version of “The Big Valley,” based on the Western TV show that ran from 1965-69. Sarandon would play Victoria Barkley, the matriarch of a ranching family in the 1870’s San Joaquin Valley.
-The “Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” is coming back to the big screen. The 1982 flick is getting a modern spin and featuring musical numbers. The original film starred Burt Reynolds and Dolly Parton.
-Kidz in the Hall and 88-Keys will co-headline the hip-hop Crowd Control Tour, which kicks off later this month. It will make a stop at the Pike Room at the Crofoot, Pontiac, on March 11.
