State of the Huron Conference: Sept. 24th
The Huron River Watershed Council will hold its annual “State of the Huron” conference at Washtenaw Community College on Sept. 24th. Ann Arbor News excerpts and link:
Speakers and panelists at this year’s event, set for Sept. 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Washtenaw Community College, will weigh in on current condition in the watershed and what’s being done to protect the region and the river.
The keynote speaker is Herbert Dreiseitl, who is trained as an artist and creates sustainable water projects focused on providing aesthetic and social values, will discuss water in the urban environment. Other sessions include river ecology, landscape ecology, land use and land preservation tools, impact of personal care products and medicines on the watershed, climate change and more.
Registration deadline is Sept. 12. To register, go to www.hrwc.org and click on the conference link at the top of the page. Fees are $35 for members, $50 for non-members and $60 for a membership and the conference. Lunch is included.
