Weird Weather History: Hurricane Huron
I’ve always been a big fan of the Weather Channel. Maybe it’s all the maps they show. Or the odd weather stories. I was particularly tickled when the remains of Hurricane Ike pushed directly over our region. Bill Steffen, the fascinating weather blogger at WOOD TV has a highly recommended post related to Michigan’s hurricane history.

Among the crazy information in his post is a 1996 storm dubbed “Hurricane Huron.” It was a mid-September storm that pushed over Lake Huron at the lake’s peak annual temperature. The storm briefly developed an eye wall, feeder bands and other tropical storm-like characteristics. Read more below:
