Ypsilanti’s Mineral Springs Once Believed to Cure Cancer
Michigan is, of course, famed for its water. But not all of that water is contained within the Great Lakes. Saline, for instance, gained its name because of salt springs that were discovered by Native Americans and early settlers.
Mineral springs were also found in Ypsilanti. These springs became famous for their curative qualities and an entire industry of sanitariums rose from this hyrologic eccentricity. Click on this Flickr link for some very interesting links on the subject:
