Climate Bill Includes $3.9 Billion Alternative Energy Funding for Great Lakes
Representative Marcy Kaptur of Toledo was able to slip a last-minute amendment into the climate cap-and-trade bill that would provide $3.9 billion in federal funds for alternative energy development in the Great Lakes Region. Representatives Kaptur, Dingell and Schauer all voted in support of the bill. And all three were part of the midwestern swing constituency that could have killed the bill. This was excellent use of political leverage on the part of Kaptur and the rest of our region’s Democratic congressmen. Glass City Jungle link:
