Laurent Fournier at the excellent birding blog Huron River Birding has a review of a recent birding visit to the William P. Holliday Preserve near the intersection of M-14 and I-275 in Wayne County.  Link:

Note: The Holliday preserve is one of several natural areas that follow the River Rouge in that area.  Most are connected by at least a dirt trail.  And frequent closures of nearby Hines Drive for recreational use allow for additional long-dayhike options.  I have always enjoyed my visits.
