At the VIP Cow Milking Contest Tuesday, everyone showed up except for Kaye Lani, whose daughter was celebrating her 12th birthday and probably came up with better ways to celebrate. Guess you can’t blame her. Bronco McKart was the winner. The biggest hat contest, if there had been one, would have gone to the sheriff, who wore a John Wayne-sized cowboy hat.

When its a down time in the fair booth, you have to come up with a few things to keep busy. Tuesday, I decided to write down some of the best T-shirts people were wearing. Here’s a few:
“I’m Board. Entertain Me.”
“Saw it. Wanted It. Threw a Fit. Got it.”
“Rock On.”
“Rock Out.”
“You look different today. I noticed the improvement immediately.”
There were shirts from local businesses, lots of political candidates and sports shirts from nearly every area school: Monroe soccer, Monroe football, Wagar softball, Airport, Jefferson, Mason track and Mason baseball, Whiteford softball, Whiteford basketball, Ida, Summerfield volleyball and softball and Dundee, to name a few.

Karen Goretski, the chairman, says among the celebrities expected to compete in the second annual contest are Bronco McKart, state Rep. Kathy Angerer, Sheriff Tilman Crutchfield, Evening News columnist Tom Treece and reporter Ray Kisonas, Miss Monroe County Rachel McLeery, former Miss America Kaye Lani Rafko Wilson and her daughter, Alana, and a few others. Kaye Lani is one of the repeat contestants from last year’s inaugural event…
