I Proudly Serve Starbucks (to Myself) — Even in Mexico!

Diann and I recently returned from Mexico where we visited our daughter Julie and her family (they’re missionaries - check out their web site at www.fishersofmenmexico.org). We camped with the entire family (15 of us) for three days. The campground was in a remote, rural area where the very dry land was fed by underground springs, creating an oasis with much greenery, streams, and waterfalls. It was great fun.
Of course, I brought my favorite beverage with me, my Starbucks coffee. It was a challenge to brew! I didn’t have much for firewood so I scrounged around and found dead, dry palm branches. They became my source of fuel for my fire. The family marveled at what I wouldn’t go through to have a cup of Starbucks!
I sometimes ask myself if I desire to draw upon the refreshing presence of God as much as I do my Starbucks. The psalmist declared, “My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?” (Psalm 42:2) Ok, for you, Starbucks coffee may not be your beverage of choice but whatever it is - a Coke, Pepsi, tea, water, ? - you might ask yourself the same question. How much do we really thirst after God? May our thirst for Him increase!
