My prayers are with you as you go forward
with surgery. God has the surgeon's hands and will guide them. Healing restores our faith in him just as illness causes us to turn towards Him. Hallelujah, Glory to God!

I’ve never much enjoyed traveling. I like my routines and my comforts, and getting ready for a trip always seems too much trouble. Planning the itinerary and the things we’ll need (passport, clothing, cash, etc.) seems to be a big deal, especially for air travel. As I’m washing clothes and bringing the luggage down from the attic, I’m inclined to say, “Forget it. We’ll stay home where we have a good bed and a good shower and air conditioning and can be in charge of our own schedules.”

But when I get beyond the hassles and am willing to follow someone else’s schedule and agenda, we always lean something on a journey. And besides, staying home doesn’t guarantee that we won’t experience changes and challenges! I want to be more open to experiencing what God has to teach me in this journey called life!

From Good Faith, by Jane Smalley

Describing his parents, the narrator says:
They were strict, but they weren’t gloomy. . . They couldn’t understand anyone who considered God or salvation in the least frightening. Now, sin: that was fearful. But to be fully committed to the Lord’s path, that was source of perennial joy which one was obliged to display as an example of glad service to the Lord, and the sure expectation of everlasting glory.

".....the most wonderful thing about Tiggers is, I'm the only one." That is the ending of Tigger's theme song that he sings as he bounces around, so he also rejoices in his uniqueness. I want to be a Tigger too, and I rejoice that their is only one "Rachel" just like me. I think that I make God happy about that.

Relief, gratitude, incredulous joy -- they all describe the true experience of Easter, don't they? Yes, He is risen in deed!
Thanks for writing,

My niece’s husband disappeared last Friday, leaving behind a suicide note. Over the weekend there was no news, and the family had resigned themselves that David was dead and that they might never find his body. On Sunday my sister called me in joy, relief, and a touch of astonishment, saying, “They’ve found David—and he’s alive!” Along with relief and gratitude about this situation, I realized that this must be what the disciples felt after the three days following Christ’s crucifixion: the same incredulous joy that ”He’s alive!” and the knowledge that though difficulties lie ahead, there’s hope as long as “He’s alive!” Happy Easter!

Wow! What a way to put death in perspective. After my sister died all I focused on was that she was gone. What comfort it gives me to realize that God is at the other side saying "Here She Is". What a calming effect this has had on me.
