new releases

Tuesday was DVD day. Admittedly, I didn’t buy any new DVDs on Tuesday (although I did buy the new Mandy Moore cd… it’s great!).

There really weren’t a lot of releases though, anyway. The following came out:

Bridge to Terabithia

Reno 911!: Miami

I haven’t seen either of these yet, but Bridge to Terabithia might be good… at least if it even comes close to capturing the essence of the fantastic novel it’s based on.
And tomorrow is Friday, which means new movies at the theaters:

1408

Evan Almighty

A Mighty Heart

along with a few limited releases.  I kinda want to see 1408, which is based on a cool little short story by Stephen King. Evan Almighty is the sequal to Bruce Almighty, but I’m wondering if they went a little too hokey this time around. A Mighty Heart is a film I don’t know much about, other than it’s supposedly Angelina Jolie’s best performance to date… not that that’s saying much.

  1. A Mighty Heart is going to be a groundbreaking film. How can you possibly run a film blog if you have not heard anything about it, but yet you’ll recommend a run of the mill crappy horror movie by Stephen King?

For everyone who actually reads this, a mighty heart is the true story of journalist Daniel Pearl and his wife Mariane. For those that don’t remember, Daniel Pearl was the journalist who went to Pakistan trying to find answers about 9/11; on his last stop he is abducted and held captive. The terrorist sent several photos of him to the fbi and demanded that America get out of the middle east. Later they behead Daniel and release the video and it is consequently leaked throughout the internet and it literally was a huge event that divided the world. Angelina Jolie is a tremendous actress and you can see clearly through the trailers that this is her finest performance to date..

keep up on this stuff man..

Also Reno: 911 was a very funny movie, but it is aimed more for a younger audience, and Bridge to Terabithia is a very solid film with a great message for children. It is aimed more for the ages of seven to ten years because there are some thing in here that younger children may find scary. Overall though a great family film that may even reach out to some adults.

I heard from DET New critic Tom Long that A Mighty Heart is a great film and Angile is sure to get an ocar nod for this preformance.
