Hello, everyone, and welcome to “In The Reel World”! My name is Travis, and I’ll be your host for a night a movie watching, and your guide in the world of movie making! I may not be the best at either, and I KNOW there are many out there more qualified than I to take on this task… but none of them currently reside in Monroe!
If you’d like to find out more about me, go to the list at the right hand side of your screen and click on “About In The Reel World”.
So just what exactly is “In The Reel World” about? Well, I’m sure you’ve realized that it’s in the REEL world and not in the REAL world, right? Real= actual. Reel= spool of threaded film! SO, this blog is all about film.
Films and filmmaking!
I’ll be telling you all what to watch and what not to watch, based on my personal opinions. Now, you’re probably not always going to AGREE with my opinions on certain films, so I encourage you to watch a movie EVEN if I say it’s horrible! Because you never know, you may love it. “One man’s junk is another man’s treasure” certainly holds true when it comes to opinions of movies. So whenever I watch a movie, I’ll let you all know what I think! I’ll also tell you what movies are coming out both at theaters and on DVD that look like must-sees, and/or stay-away-froms.
I’ll be giving you tips on movie making. I know one of the biggest dreams is to work in Hollywood. We might be a couple thousand miles from L.A. but that doesn’t mean you can’t make movies! I’ll give you tips (hopefully helpful tips) on all aspects of filmmaking, from scripting to shooting to editing! And everything in between (don’t think for a second that those are the only three steps involved, please!).
I’ll be giving you film updates! I’ll tell you how I’m progressing through my film projects. I’ll tell you how other indie filmmakers are progressing in theirs. And any info I find out about the progressions of big Hollywood filmmakers? I’ll give you all that too!
AND, I’ll even give you some pretty cool links! That way you can check out various filmmakers that you maybe have never heard of before, but should really check out; you’ll get to see some really cool videos that you can only see online; and maybe even do some shopping of DVDs and film equipment (which if you want to buy ME some DVDs and film equipment to, that would be GREAT! My birthday is Oct. 30, and Christmas is less than 2 months after that!).
So I hope you guys enjoy “In The Reel World” and that you get a lot out of it! And feel free to leave comments on any blogs, and to e-mail me any cool film related stuff you want (and if you decide to make your own films, let me know! I’ll review them and even post the videos right here on my blog for everyone to see!).
Oh, and don’t worry. My blogs won’t be as long as this one was. At least… MOST won’t.
