“Dedication” with Mandy Moore just came out on DVD (EXCLUSIVELY with Blockbuster).  Since it was a limited release and I didn’t get to see it, I decided to rent it.

Now, usually, I think Mandy Moore is an ok actress…. in this movie, however.. she’s a GREAT actress!

The story is something we’ve seen before (Think “Alex & Emma“… but instead of the main guy having hitmen after him, he’s kinda nutso…).

The only thing about this movie that I REALLY DID NOT LIKE was the editing… everytime they’d show some crazy stuff that’s going on in the main guy’s head, they’d do a photoflash….. it got old fast!

You should definitely watch this though for a pretty good indie film with some excellent acting.

I haven’t watched the Ghostbusters movies since I was a kid!  Well, I happen to have the box set with both movies and I hadn’t even opened it.  So, last week, I felt the need to do so!

Ghostbusters: ok, so clearly this movie is a classic (I was surprised to discover it’s from 1984!!!!!  The special effects are actually really good considering how old it is!  The story is pretty good for the most part as well.  HOWEVER, not only is the acting pretty horrendous, near the end the dialogue and plot points get cornier and cornier.  I’m thinking particularly when Rick Moranis bursts in and yells “I am the key master!” to which Sigourney Weaver responds “I am the gate master”.  And while the Stay-Puffed Marshmallow Man is also a classic (I have a figure of him around somewhere…), how he comes into being is STUPID!  All-in-all, it’s a pretty good movie, and one that should be watched for Nostalgia purposes!

Ghostbusters II: Ok… they just RUINED Ghostbusters.. Now I know why I didn’t remember what this one was about.  The story was terrible!  I don’t even want to do a full review of this one, so let’s just leave it at don’t bother.
