American Pie Presents: Beta House

March 8th, 2008 by Travis Seppala

We of course all love American Pie, American Pie 2, and American Wedding.  Not everyone knows this, but there are also 3 straight-to-DVD American Pie films… one of which is American Pie Presents: Beta House.

This movie was filled with some of the most outrageous raunchy humor around.  There were drunk antics, speculation of she-males, and sex with a goat.

What I’m trying to say is this was FUNNY!  I’m sure there are many people in the older generations who will find it rediculous and uncalled for… but for a 20something male like myself, it was hilarious!

So if you don’t like the f-bomb, sex jokes, nudity, and TONS MORE sex jokes… don’t bother with this.  If you’re into that sort of thing, it’s a surprisingly must see.  I thought it’d be crap… but it made me laugh a LOT!

Vantage Point

March 8th, 2008 by Travis Seppala

Just saw Vantage Point, and it’s one of the coolest films I’ve seen in a while.

Well, at least the story is cool.

Lots of espionage and such in this flick, as well as a ton of interwoven characters!  The story had several twists I was NOT expecting.  It had a lot of energy and kept you guessing, and on the edge of your seat.

What I didn’t like, however, was the style.  This whole show a bit, rewind, show again plus some, rewind, show again with more… it’s been done.  I’m sure they THOUGHT they were being original with it (and, I GUESS it was kind of clever in a way)… but it’s an idea that’s been played to death.  They even did it once on Dawson’s Creek!

So, I guess what I’m saying here is that Vantage Point is a must see… just be warned that the style in which the story is presented might irritate you a bit.

Sunshine

March 7th, 2008 by Travis Seppala

It’s odd to find a big budget sci-fi in the world of Indie films.  Well, last year there was “Sunshine

This movie was GREAT!  the special effects were awesome, the acting was well done, the editing was enticing…. There wasn’t much wrong with this movie.

In fact, my ONLY problem with this movie was… well, something I can’t tell you about without ruining it for you.  So, let’s just say that at one point near the end there’s a villian other than the typical technical problems…. and this new villian that appears for only the last maybe 20 mintues is not something I’m a fan of.

Other than that, it’s a great movie, and a must-watch!

Jumper

March 6th, 2008 by Travis Seppala

Don’t you wish you could teleport?  Well, that’s just what Jumper is about.

I actually liked this movie a little more than I thought I would.  See… I’ve always thought teleportation was the lamest of all Super Powers (give me strength, speed, and flight any day), so I wasn’t expecting to find this to be all that much.

But, it was pretty cool.

The acting was good for the most part… the lead female wasn’t that great, but the men in this movie are all really good and (for the most part) believable.

The special effects are cool… at first.  As I expected, they got really old really fast, and after a while you just get tired of seeing the air ripple and the low pitched WHOOP sound that accompanies a jump.

If you read my blog about watch-movies.net, you know I saw Jumper on my computer.  I wish I would have seen it on the big screen.  Some of the effects (like the bus teleporting scene you probably saw in the trailer) would look much better on a huge theater screen than on my 12 inch monitor.  In other words, I suggest you hurry up and see this one before you have to rent it.  Jump to the theater now!  Or… if you can’t teleport, drive.  Drive really fast.

Semi-Pro

March 6th, 2008 by Travis Seppala

Will Farrel’s new movie Semi-Pro is all about the basketball team the Flint Michigan Tropics.

This movie is supposed to be a comedy.  Key word?  SUPPOSED!  It fails.

Well, don’t get me wrong, it’s an ok movie.  It’s got a simple story, but it’s entertaining at least with the costumed dancing, the bad playing of the team, and of course Will Farrel getting beat up by a bear!

But… is it funny?  I wouldn’t say so.  Most of the film is kind of bland at best.  Granted, I laughed at a few scenes… but it wasn’t enough for me to call this movie “funny”.

If you’re a Will Farrell fan, you might really enjoy this.  If you’re not… you’ll only be mildly amused.

Watch movies online!!!!!

This is a link my sister gave me.  CLICK HERE to watch movies online!  You can watch just about any movie, including stuff that’s still in movie theaters.  Yes, the ones still in theaters are bootlegged, but some have very good quality.  And there’s nothing to download- it’s all streaming!

Why, last night I watched Semi-Pro, and earlier today I watched Jumper!  I’m going to do reviews of each in a moment.
