The Newest Mason

My neice was born Wednesday night, at Monroe Mercy.  Her name is Helaina, plan on calling her Lani.  Congrats to my brother Scott and his wife, Michelle,  and dad and mom who finally got their grandchild.

awwwww!!! looks like an angel baby. i hope you have already got her her first barbie fishing pole and tackle box…strictly for practicing casting, she looks like her tastes are going to be very refined and she will probably want a REAL fishing pole before preschool. lol!

The ol’ Barbie fishing pole, not for this kid! This one is going to get started on an ultra light Ugly Stik and a spinning reel that will be handed down. Wont have to worry about the tackle box either. She has a new plano tackle bag, that will hold 4 plano 3600 sized trays inside, with a 3500 tray up front. Wont be long until she graduates to her first St Croix.

You just gave me a good idea for a blog topic, starter kits for kids.

oh, you’re a croix boy…we’re g.loomis fans here. :D that is a good idea for a new blog topic, you know i’ll stay tuned.

Aahhhhh fans of ol’ Gary Loomis, dang nice rods for sure. Just wish there wasn’t a Shimano running the shop. Shimano (reels) bought Loomis out roughly five years ago. My mother’s best friend, who I have called my aunt since a child, lives on a mountain in the state of Washington. She has Gary on one side of her (above/below…I forget) and the Shimano on the other. There is a stream that runs down the mountain that both fish, often she sees them together.

I’ve been working up some ideas for that kid’s box, might just have to break it down to age appropriatness. The ultra light rod just might come second, I just remembered all the fun I had with my first cane pole as a kid. Just lift the rod and wait for that gill or crappie to come swinging towards the boat.
