Kalamazoo, Michigan………thats where I went shopping today.  Randy who owns the shop, is Kevin VanDam’s brother.  The folks there were top notch,  polite and walked right up to you and made sure you were finding what you were looking for.  Good customer service.

I had called ahead to make sure the items I wanted were in stock,  and when I arrived, they just pulled the order in a matter of seconds.  The plan is to have one fish finder for both the Triton and the Crestliner.  To save money, about $400 to be exact,  I purchased a second transducer and two  R.A.M mounts.  Whenever I take one boat out or the other, all I have to do is switch out the mounting plate with Lowrance mount attached.

Picked up some Witch tape that I haven’t found locally too.  Found some green and orange ice/crackle.  The plan is to switch out of the old tape I have on  my Swedish Pimples with the new stuff for winter.  Some of what is left will be going on my colorado blades next spring for walleye harnesses.

One of the benefits of the trip was to catch up with Pam and Roger, whom I used to work with at Cabela’s.  A husband/wife team, they are still selling boats.  The move to D&R was just a little closer to home for them.  Good people.  Unfortunately Roger was off today, go figure, GONE FISHING.  Did get to see Pam, sounds like they are really really happy with the move west.  You can visit the website for more information,  really easy to get to, right off of I-94.  D&R Sports

MWC Update

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

Here’s a quick schedule of events to be held at the Cabela store in Dundee,  the festivities begin on Wednesday and run thru Saturday.

Wed, Oct 3rd :   9 to 3:30  is a one day event/tourney.  Almost like a Pro Am event, those who revieved invites will get a chance to fish and pick up ideas from pro anglers and local hot shots.  Weigh-in will be held at the store between 4 and 5:30pm.  There will be a concert that evening with local musician, Pat Dailey.

Thursday, Oct 4th :  Anglers competing hit the water for real at 8, and have until 3:30 to get back to Bolles Harbour.  Weigh-in  starts at 4pm, and should finish again by 5:30.

Friday, Oct 5th : While the tournament continues with the same start and finish times, plus weigh-in, there will be radio-thon being held at the store.  Brought to you by the Salvation Army, the “One Child NOW” program will continue on the radio until midnight. After the weigh-in there will be a Youth and Family Fishing Clinic.

Saturday, Oct 6th:  As far as the tournament goes, the time schedule applies.  From 6 am till 7 pm the radio-thon will be held again for the Salvation Army program.  The kids will have a chance to compete as well back at the store, with a Kids Fishing Derby.  This is scheduled to take place between 9 am and 2 pm.

Everything that will be on the radio, will be aired on 106.7 FM, the Fox.  Also for live entertainment, besides Pat Dailey on Wednesday, there is Steve Iott performing on Thursday.  Its a comic show, and like the Dailey concert, a $5 donation will be taken to help with the radio-thon.  Friday there will be a concert with Josh Boyd and the VIP Band.  That will be a $10 donation at the gate, which also goes to the One Child NOW program.

Ok, thats that, heading out the door to K-zoo.  Thats Kalamazoo,  and going shopping at D & R Sports.  Going to pick up a new Lowrance for the boats, and will have some more details about the trip when I get back tonight.  Once you get past Ann Arbor, the trip along I-94 is a nice scenic view.  Unlike the flat lands we have in our area, the rolling hills in the fall can be pretty spectacular.
