Pics from Saginaw Bay

Saturday, March 1st, 2008

I had a great day last Thursday up on Saginaw Bay, the weather was perfect, fished with a bunch of people I knew, and for a while in the morning, the bite was fast and furious.  The afternoon was hit and miss until 4pm or so when things picked up slightly.  I was a little late in getting the camera out, but its hard to do when the Vexilar was lit up like a Christmas tree with fish signals.

Adam MarchbanksThis is a picture of Adam Marchbanks sitting on his Honda with the fish his dad and he had caught before noon.  It was Adam who caught the first few fish and turned everyone on to using the Bay de Noc nickel Do-Jigger.

My set upThis was is a picture of the Polaris and new Jet Sled XL that I rigged up last week with the ski’s.  The ski’s worked great and fully protected the sleds bottom during the trip.  This one was taken in the evening before packing up and I had gear all over the place.

this is how we rollThis is after having the quad sit on the trailer all night.  We had quite a bit of snow down here at home, but like any trip north, at some point you have to put the gear away.  The Jet Sled XL was everything I wanted, and I was able to fit quite a bit of gear into it.  A larger cooler in the back for the fish, bucket for the bait, smaller cooler for beverages and food, and then the cases for rods and tip ups.

eye cyclesThese are the fish waiting to be processed.  I had called up the neighbor during the trip to throw another can of beef broth in the crock pot because I was staying all day on the bay, and had promised some walleye for their dinner the next day.  It took a bit longer though, they really needed to thaw out after the trip.
