Hey! Someone gave me an award! While drifting through my faves just now after recovering from a day full of some nasty, stress-induced nausea (vomiting up hot coffee just sux …), I found out Jaden at Steamy Kitchen in Sarasota, Florida, has granted me the “Power of Schmooze” award! Jaden also gave this award to Wandering Chopsticks in southern California. From one of the award’s creators:
Schmoozing as defined by Dictonary.com is the ability “to converse casually, especially in order to gain an advantage or make a social connection.” When it comes to blogging, schmoozing is your ticket to making new friends, getting yourself noticed and building a reputation. Some bloggers are gifted with the ability to effectively schmooze and others not so much. My new friend Danielle and I would like to recognize those bloggers who exhibit strong schmoozing skills. In order to do so we’ve created the new Power of Schmooze award!
In-kind, and as per what the originators have done, I’d like to pass this award on to:
Dan Shaw of News Notes, also Managing Editor of the Monroe News, for starting BlogsMonroe.com and nurturing it the way he has.
Tonya Sweat of What is Normal?, for knowing how to exhibit true love for her son through her blog and sharing that love with friends.
Mike Ingels of Expatriate Monroe, for being a solid member of the blogging community even before he joined in the fun.
Joey Randall of The Village Voice, for popping up in my in-box on occasion to ask how things are going and then filling me in on what she’s been up to.
Leslie of The Chelsea Blog, for always staying in-touch when something important comes up.
Thanks, Jaden!!! ![]()

Awwww, gosh thanks! I have been away from the computer much more than usual for the past couple weeks while entertaining family visiting, and this is the first I’ve been able to return to Blog-Land. What a nice welcome back.
While admittedly, I’m a bit cynical of ‘virtual awards’… I like the description and spirit of this one and I think you definitely deserve the kudos!
