Photo: “What Is Normal?”’s Knoah, In the Hospital This Morning

Posted on 4 February 2008 under BlogsMonroe, Photos

Over on “What Is Normal?” right here on BlogsMonroe.com (where she discusses Knoah’s Achondroplasia, a form of dwarfism), Knoah’s mom Tonya has been blogging the past couple days on how Knoah’s been in the hospital with both the influenza virus (not just some everyday flu bug) along with a bit of pneumonia. I took the above photo of him in his industrial crib in the hospital at about 8:30 this morning. Tonya had been sleeping in the other bed in the room, while dad Will was home trying to get some sleep prior to having to work this afternoon.

If you look closely at Knoah’s forearm you can tell it’s quite enlarged. His IV had infiltrated yesterday evening and this morning that’s where most of his antibiotics were still located, not having yet made it through his system.

I visited with Tonya and Knoah until the Doctor came in at about 9:30, mostly just listening. That little family, particularly Knoah, handles a lot of problems.

Please keep them all in your prayers.

I just commented over on Tonya’s blog about seeing them and how unhappy Knoah was. He at least looks more peaceful than Saturday night. I hope he is feeling better.

Cyndi, once he woke up this morning he wasn’t too happy whatsover. I got a couple smiles out of him but with that arm the way it is he’s a bit uncomfortable. He dropped off to sleep again somewhat later. He could very well be at the hospital another few days.

Prayers are powerful. Please know Knoah is on my prayer chain.

I will be praying for Knoah. I just learned of him from Samuel Mann’s mommy, who keeps a Caring Bridge journal on Samuel, who has thanatophoric dysplasia. My son Eric had thanatophoric dysplasia, and so my heart naturally goes out to all who are loving and supporting an infant with dwarfism.

I will be keeping Knoah in prayer, continually. It hurts so much to see a child suffer.

You’re quite welcome, Tonya! Take care of each other … I know you will anyway because that’s what y’all do best. :-)
