About Pacer Chick

By Jessica Wahl (jessica.wahl@monroe.lib.mi.us)

Allow me to introduce myself! My name is Jessica (or Jess) Wahl. I am 23 years old, I live in Monroe, and I attend Eastern Michigan University. I also work as a Circulation Clerk at the Ellis Library.I have had Neurocardiogenic Syncope (NCS) since I was born, and was diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) a couple years ago.

I know I know, a lot of big, ugly medical terms, and believe me I thought it was pretty cool when I actually learned how to spell those words! In simpler terms, something in me, just ain’t working right! My heart and brain don’t really “communicate” the way they are supposed to, and because of that, I tend to pass out and have an array of other symptoms ranging from vertigo, sound and light sensitivity, and stomach pains. Ain’t life grand?Aside from all that, I am enjoying living my life. I love to read, I love old movies and old Hollywood, and if you met me, you probably would have a hard time believing I have a heart problem let alone a pacemaker because I am usually bouncing off the walls!

If you have any questions that you don’t feel comfortable asking me about through a comment on my blog, feel free to e-mail me at jessica.wahl@monroe.lib.mi.us
