Household Notebooks

A household notebook can be a great way to keep you organized.  A household notebook is a central location for phone numbers, calendars, business cards, to-do lists, chore lists, inspiration/motivation, cleaning lists, schedules, odds and ends, shopping lists, plans, and much more.  This isn’t the typical binder you’d buy in a store!  This is something every “keeper of the home” must create and personalize according to her family

Check out this fantastic link for a full “course” in creating a household notebook, plus a tour through her own.  On the left column you’ll find a long list of others who have created household notebooks and have them displayed on their website.  Excellent inspiration and ideas for creating your own!!

Yes, I have a home binder. I call it “the blue binder,” because it’s blue and I couldn’t think of another name for it! I keep a lot of handy useful reference information in there.
Some of the practical uses I’ve found include grocery list and sales fliers; Christmas gift list; school schedules; map printouts for places we travel to frequently; and inventory pages of my holiday and everyday dish patterns.
When my daughter went to college, I gave her a binder and page protectors so she could save her important papers in one spot. She calls it the “important stuff” binder.

Hi! Great work on your blog - keep it up! FlyLady (www.flylady.net) has a “control journal” that she uses… I just finished reading her book (Sink Reflections) from the library (I’ll be buying my own copy - excellent!), and she discusses a lot of great ideas for housekeeping, house “blessing” and using your control journal…
