Yup, rabbit tastes like chicken

Saturday, November 17th, 2007

It’s true.  Rabbit does taste like chicken, and has a heartier base to it.

It’s been said rabbit can be used in any chicken recipe, and I believe it!  Just be sure to #1 cook it at a lower temperature (or in a crockpot), and give it a layer of fat on top (bacon) so it doesn’t dry out (or use a crockpot).  Rabbit is very lean, so it’ll dry out pretty easily.

Looks like my husband and I may be going ahead with our plans for breeding meat rabbits next year.  It’s important to me to provide wholesome, healthy meals for my family and while chicken is a healthy meat, you can never be sure how the chicken was raised and how it was preserved unless you do it yourself.  I’m a ‘do it yourself’ kind of girl and while I can’t raise chickens or beef where I live, we can do rabbit.

If you’re interested in trying rabbit, the Erie IGA on South Dixie Hwy in Erie is now carrying it.

Laying out sewing patterns

Wednesday, November 7th, 2007

Have you ever wondered how to lay out a sewing pattern?  Here is a nice tutorial.

I’ve been busy sewing drawstring bags (for kid toys) cloth baby wipes, and dresses/skirts for myself and my girls.  I’ll be sewing up some pants and shirts for my son also - what are your sewing projects?
