About Home Life
By Sarah K. (sarah@motherhoodnaturally.com)
Welcome to Home Life!
My name is Sarah. I have three (soon to be four November 08) children and live with them and my husband and our three dogs in our countryside apartment in Erie, MI. I’ve always been a country gal, and I love it. I am a stay at home mom and also own my own business. My husband is an EMT and a volunteer firefighter. My children are 4, 2, 8 months and our fourth (we don’t know gender until s/he’s born) is due in November 2008. I have a Vizsla and two Maltese dogs, and have dreams of fostering Vizsla’s when we get into a house of our own with much more room. I love the breed! If I can do it myself, I will. I enjoy watching my children, even as young as they are, taking part in this lifestyle and learning very valuable skills they’ll be able to build upon through their life.
I thought it might be neat to have a resource for anyone who has an interest in homemaking (cooking, baking, cleaning, organization, frugality, saving time, tips and tricks of the trade, and all things related to making your household run smoothly), homesteading (becoming self reliant in many areas - and I am going to gear this towards anyone who would like to pick up some homesteading skills whether you’re in a small aparment in the middle of a huge city, or already own your own peice of land out in the wild west), and back to basics living (throw out the modern day machines - let’s get back to the way things used to be done - and were done well!)
This blog should also be a good resource for those who never grew up with domestic skills and think it might be helpful to learn the basics from the ground up. When I first became a mom, I think that is when my domestic desire first kicked into high gear. Having ignored a lot of my moms attempts to teach me some domestic skills, I felt completely overwhelmed! But now I’ll happily say I’m not perfect but I’ve come a long way, and still have a lot to learn. Each new day brings a new lesson to be learned as we set about our way to be self reliant to the best of our ability in an apartment, keep home, and enjoy life.
I’m not domestic expert myself, so I’m hoping you can help me on this journey. I’ll share what i know, my experiences, and a bunch of resources I’ve found to be helpful. In return I’m hoping you’ll do the same!
