I hope all you opening day deer hunters shot a big buck like the one behind me. This buck hangs in the Baldwin’s camp, along with 100 other racks. Mr. Dick Baldwin shot this bruiser 12 point that scored right around 160. There family doesn’t bow hunt, except for Matt, but come gun season they know what to do, and how to do it!
I did make it over to Hillsdale to hunt in a downpour last evening. I opted for my ground blind due to the pouring rain, and had two nice 6-pointers work a scrape right in front of me. I left my movie camera back in the truck, or I would of taken some great movies. It’s to early in the season, and to warm, to be thinking about 1-1/2 year old bucks, but come Dec. they might look tempting. My son-in-law Tony Russo will be over all week. He had several yearling’s around his stand, and just before dark he had a big bodied deer hang up on him. If he puts enough time in that stand I’m sure he’ll get his chance.
I won’t make it back over till Thursday evening or Sat. evening. This is a very busy week for me with my 37th. anniversary being today. Some day I’ll tell the story of why I got married on October 2nd. I really thought I pulled a “fast one” on my wife! Turned out the joke was on me! Let me know how you all do and I’ll post the results.
Mike

hey…happy anniversary. Mine is actually coming up on the 8th. Only 2 years though, not 37!
I hunted in the rain Monday evening as well. Saw a nice little six, but couldn’t close the deal. It’s only a matter of time!
Can’t wait to hear the “fast one” story.
