Minnesota Monarch

This is the Minnesota Monster I was talking about in my last blog.  If this “headgear” doesn’t impress you nothing will!  Now remember this deer didn’t come from Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, or southern Ohio.  This is a bona fide northern world class whitetail.  Ben Knisley is the hunter who braved the cold frozen forest of Minnesota during the states blackpowder season.  Ben , with the help of his uncle Dick, took this trophy on Nov. 4th. of 2006.  Its hard to believe but Ben was able to reload twice, after his initial shot, and fire two more .54  caliber bullets through his iron sighted Hawkins muzzleloader.   With the help of uncle Dick they found the deer, and upon inspection all three shots had connected.

This rack has it all tine length, mass, width, and beam length!  The deer is a mainframe 5X4; not a 12X12 or a 10X10 like some of the more famous bucks (Milo Hanson’s.)  The inside spread is over 25 inches, and the outside measures 31-3/8.  Both beams measure over 30 inches even though the tips are worn down several inches!  The two longest tines are 15 and 14-1/8 inches respectively.  The composite score is an offical 217-7/8.  I’ve got a feeling we all are going to be reading alot more about this very impressive Northern Monarch in the near future.  Way to go Ben!
