Mike,

I’ve told you already, but I truly think your priorities right on. I love getting out hunting every so often, but I would never put that before family. When my daughter was born last year, I only made it out two times and I have no regrets.

Hunting is great, and it provides some much needed relaxation from time to time, but family is definitely more important.

What a great post.

Yea. I’m glad I didn’t have to put them to bed either, and I’m glad my little one is too little to “appreciate” Halloween.

Your pumpkin looks great! Those grandkids are sooo cute! I think it is more fun now carving pumpkins than when I was young. You get to dig in and feel like a kid!!

You can always write about the Grandkids, Mike; no harm in that.

My little daughter just participated in her first pumpkin carving the other night, and she had a blast.

I love doing things like this was the kids – it’s gives us adults a whole new perspective on life.

Great picture, Mike. I’ve noticed around here, in just the last few days, that the colors not only turned very quickly, but that a lot of the leaves have already fallen off the trees. It’s incredible what Mother Nature can do, and what kind of picturesque things she can provide. It’s also a true testament that God really does exist.

Hope you get out to hunt next weekend, Mike. Watching Versus just isn’t the same.

That is one heck of a deer trail, and it’s too bad that you can’t get access to that property.

I know what you mean about finding properties. We had to pay to hunt for a number of years, and then I just happen to get lucky and find some property I can hunt for free. You can’t believe how much I thank my lucky stars every day for that.

Congrats to the nephew. I wanna see a pic:):)

We’ve noticed some small scrapes and some rubs in our neck of the woods, too, Mike. But it appears that all of them have been made by smaller bucks. I’m guessing in a few weeks that will all change.

Hopefully the rain and thunderstorms hold off this weekend, and allow you to get some time in stand. I’m planning on it, since during the week is usually a no-go when it comes to getting out of work early enough to hunt.

Good luck when you do get out, and I’ll include your friends, as well as little Addy in our prayers.

Mike you always have some great wisdom to offer and to be honest that is the main reason I come back to your blog time and time again to add my 5 cents worth. I always look forward to reading what you have been up too. Being a single dad raising a boy I kind of get caught up in making a living which takes time away from my son. Thanks for giving me a different perspective.

This is a wonderful story of your love for family! I absolutley agree there are awesome things about getting outdoors and sharing the love we have for that with our families. None of that matters if our families don’t know that they are MOST important! Anyone can hunt but no one can care for our families like we can as parents and grandparents!! Thank you for sharing that!
