Los Angeles Meetup Groups Blanket Rose Bowl with Flyers and Signs
I report on yesterday’s meetup. All L.A. County meetup groups supported the Rose Bowl effort.
1. Car Caravan. 20+ cars decorated their cars and drove through Pasadena, Eagle Rock, etc. promoting Ron Paul. It was a great success. Jeffrey Hubbard Asst. Organizer of L.A. meetup headed up our group’s effort.
2. Flyers/signs at Rose Bowl. 40+ Ron Paul Supporters caravaned to the Rose Bowl. We had to flyer at the “Free Speech Zone” and nowhere else. Steve Vincent of North Hollywood Meetup Group (and others) had a fit–they said that all of America is a Free Speech Zone. We held signs and distributed 100s and 100s of flyers to the attendees. Very Successful. At first, many attendees did not want to take our Ron Paul Flyers, so I started saying: “You need a Ron Paul Flyer to be admitted to the Fireworks Show.” Many people took the flyer with a serious demeanor and started reading it. One woman said: “Who says you need a flyer to get in?” I said: “I do.” She then took a flyer and said, “Well, I better read it then.” Another woman responded tongue-in-cheek by saying: “This man must have a lot of influence to make that a requirement.” She too read the flyer. Several people said: “Well, I don’t want a flyer now, but if I get denied admission, I’ll come back and get one from you.”
3. Al Gore Table. The only other group there was an Al Gore group. They had two people only. Security told them to set up way off on the grass far from the crowds. I went over to talk to them, and they complained that we set up in the wrong place. When I first approached them, I said, “I am ashamed to admit this, but I am supporting a Republican–Ron Paul.” One of the Al Gore workers said: “I love Ron Paul. Whenever he speaks in Congress, I try to hear him. He is the only one I try to hear speak. He supports the Constitution.” I then said, “Security can’t tell us where to congretate. Why don’t you come set up your table among our group.” They were pleased to get a better spot, so, I helped them move their table, right in the middle of our efforts and they were very happy and cordial.
4. Ron Paul Revolution Banner. Kyland Hurt brought several large Ron Paul Revolution Banners. He gave me one and I took it home and mounted it on one of my pasture fences overlooking Angeles Crest Highway. This pasture is for my alpacas, so passers by look up to see the alpacas, and then see a huge RON PAUL REVOLUION banner. It is quite impressive and will be viewed by 100s and 100s every day.
Someone (who is more computer savy than I) should post this update on the blogs so everyone can read it.
Thanks,
Bill Johnson
