Media Deception In Mackinac

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

If there is any doubt in your mind that large media outlets massage the news to deliver a perception that differs from reality, maybe this video will change your mind.

This might help to explain why Ron Paul isn’t getting the attention he deserves. And this is only the tip of the iceberg. This type of deception has been going on since Dr. Paul’s campaign started. Fox News in particular, is trying to downplay the freedom revival movement Ron Paul has started. It is very difficult to make headway without recognition by the main-stream media. Amazingly Ron Paul has been able to make great strides, despite the media distortion.

People should be infuriated that the media is intentionally misleading them.

Here is a good place to get accurate information regarding Ron Paul and the success of his campaign:

Bush's Entourage

I’m not sure who specifically to credit for the diagram, but I first saw it on the Lew Rockwell blog.

Hillitary Industrial Complex

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

The military industrial complex has found its presidential candidate; and it’s not a republican this time. In the last quarter, Hillary Clinton received significantly more donations from defense contractors than any other candidate. That is a very telling statistic, considering their dependency on war and foreign intervention.

Despite what many of her supporters believe, she has no intentions of leaving Iraq anytime soon, and her foreign policy will likely be very similar to that of the previous three presidents; indicating a lucrative haul for the defense contractors.

I’m not sure how she is able to delude so many people into thinking she’s a humanitarian, interested in scaling back enormous corporations fed by corporate welfare, and refusing to coddle special interests.

She’s a crook, a liar, and most certainly NOT a humanitarian.

Big Spending Bush II

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

David Lightman of McClatchy Newspapers says “George W. Bush, despite all his recent bravado about being an apostle of small government and budget-slashing, is the biggest spending president since Lyndon B. Johnson. In fact, he’s arguably an even bigger spender than LBJ.”

I’m not sure republicans even care anymore.

FOX Needs A Statistics Lesson

Monday, October 22nd, 2007

Last nights FOX News republican presidential debate might have been the worst one yet. It was basically a pageant for the four media chosen candidates, competing for most “conservative” and most likely to defeat Hillary in the general election. Not surprisingly the crowd of what appeared to be 3000 zombies, handpicked by FOX News, showed little appreciation for — and often booing — Ron Paul; the most conservative (in the traditional sense), and the only candidate with the diverse support needed to defeat Hillary.

When the results of the text message poll were announced by Alan Colmes — indicating Ron Paul in the lead with 38% — Sean Hannity interrupted, whining that Ron Paul really didn’t win the debate; “they stack the deck,” he said.

I don’t know why Hannity can’t get it through his thick skull. This is a text message poll. you only get ONE vote. YOU CAN’T “STACK THE DECK.” Even if it was possible, why is it that only Ron Paul supporters are able to figure out how to stack it? That would certainly say a lot about the ineptitude of the supporters of other candidates.

It was impossible to vote more than once the first time they did this, when Ron Paul came in second; it was impossible the second time, when Ron Paul won it; and it was impossible this time, when Ron Paul won it.

I really got a kick out of the “professional pollster” FOX News had analyzing the reaction from the viewers. He immediately disregarded the results of the text message poll, where it’s likely that hundreds of thousands of Americans voted. Why? Well because his group of 25 hand selected robots did not raise their hands when he rhetorically asked “how many of you think Ron Paul won the debate?” and no one raised their hand. Clearly 25 FOX News indoctrinees are more representative of the general population than the people who voted in the poll.

Here is the very amusing post-debate interview with Ron Paul:

Hannity’s main problem with Paul: If he doesn’t get the nomination, he probably won’t abandon the principles he’s upheld and so passionately worked to spread for the past 30 years and support the republican nominee. yeah. How ignoble of him.

Social(ist) (In)Security

Tuesday, October 16th, 2007

The first baby boomer in the United States applied for Social Security yesterday. Approximately 80 million are to follow in the next 18 years. This, along with the massive increase in Medicare disbursements, will put a huge strain on the system.

We are about to witness the very grim consequences of socialist policies. And to think it’s happening right here in the “capitalist” United States of America. Home of the sort-of-free.

Mandatory Helmet Laws

Friday, October 12th, 2007

A bill passed by the state House would allow motorcyclists the freedom to choose if they want to wear a helmet or not…for a certain price.

I believe this would be a step in the right direction, but in a truly free society there shouldn’t be any laws dealing with this matter at all. There exists no right for anyone to restrict actions taken by another person that in no way, violate the right of another person. To do so is in itself a violation of our inalienable right.

According to the article, “The legislation would allow riders to pay a $100 annual state permit fee to allow them to opt out of wearing a helmet. Bikers also could pay $200 for three years.”

It seems clear to me that the legislators could care less about our safety, or our individual rights, as long as they are generating revenue.

As with a similar bill that was passed last year, Granholm is expected to veto it; unfortunately for the wrong reasons. Like other nanny state bureaucrats, Granholm is in favor of mandatory helmet laws. Until helmet usage becomes a matter solely decided by the individual, it will remain an unjust action enforced by the state.

Ron Paul Rally

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

It’s becoming more and more clear to me why Ron Paul’s campaign is being referred to by many as a the Ron Paul rEVOLution.

Two nights ago was the republican presidential debate in Dearborn, Michigan. There was a rally held outside the debate, on Michigan Avenue. Originally, all protesters and supporters were kept in a small “free speech” pen behind the building out of anyone’s sight, but most Ron Paul supporters know their rights too well to be told they aren’t allowed to peacefully demonstrate on public property. So the rally was moved to the median on the avenue. In all I would estimate a turnout of about 150-200 Ron Paul supporters. Not bad considering it was held during typical working hours.

The only other candidates that had supporters outside the event were Mitt Romney (~15) and Fred Thompson (~5, who apparently remained in the pen…or went home early).

I was unable to watch the debate in its entirety but from what I did see and what was reported, it was a typical national debate where Dr. Paul had very little time to address the viewers, relative to the other candidates. But as usual, he was the only one offering logical solutions to economic woes; specifically economic policy that would greatly benefit Michigan’s ailing economy.

Following the debate was another Ron Paul Rally on the diag at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. This was the largest rally I have ever seen on campus, with a crowd easily topping 2,000 people. I have heard as high as 3,000 but you can see for yourself in the videos below.

For a republican candidate to draw an enthusiastically supportive group of that size, on the University of Michigan’s campus is very telling. It gave me a lot of hope for this movement of freedom, peace, and prosperity. It truly is revolutionary.

Dr. Paul spoke to the attentive crowd for nearly an hour, receiving applause after every point he made. He probably received the loudest cheers when he called for the abolition of the IRS and an end to the Iraq occupation.

When he was finished speaking, hundreds of people swarmed the steps of the library, to shake his hand, get a picture with him, or have him sign stickers, books and yard signs. I even saw a few people having him sign money, which he did without flinching.

Dr. Paul continued to sign autographs for an hour, eventually having to leave some disappointed people. But he was very gracious to do it for that long. The entire time, his wife, Carol, sat on a nearby bench chatting with students.

The Rally Made the front page of the Ann Arbor News and the Michigan Daily.

Income Tax Hike

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

I received my first paycheck reflecting the increased income tax rate. I can’t wait to see what I get in return. Maybe they will make traffic flow on the newly constructed, but inadequate, section of I-94 on my way home everyday…maybe they will put some of that money on fish hooks and lure in all the entrepreneurs that left Michigan for more viable economies. Or was that extra income required to sustain the already existing programs? How could that be? Did they just get more expensive? Oh well, they know what they’re doing.

Reminder About Ron Paul Speech

Q3 Fundraising Numbers Are In

Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007

It’s becoming increasingly difficult for the mainstream media to ignore Ron Paul. After it was announced that he raised over $5 million this past quarter — slightly above McCain — let’s see if they still give more attention to Huckabee who brought in about a fifth of what Paul did.

This puts Ron Paul in third place among republican candidates in terms of cash on hand. If you were to account for the amount of money, time, and effort spent on grassroots campaigning by Dr. Paul’s supporters, his numbers would easily double. This cannot be said of the other candidates who instead need to use their money to pay people to campaign for them.

While the funding for the other republican candidates continues to decline quarter to quarter, Ron Paul’s has increased exponentially.

Democrats have been much more successful overall, in raising money. likely indicating that Americans are fed up with republicans. After what BUch has done, can you blame them. I just hope they realize that electing any of the candidates (democrat or republican), save Ron Paul, we will face another four years (maybe eight) of the same thing.

Have Loot, Will Travel

Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007

Congressional investigators report that at least 146 million dollars of tax payers money has been spent on “unauthorized or unjustified” travel expenses.

Investigators claim that some senior officials said they felt entitled to the perk of flying business or first class.

And this is only the waste from travel expenses at the federal level. Yikes!

Ron Paul to Speak on UM Diag

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

Next Tuesday, October 9th, GOP candidates will visit Dearborn Michigan for a presidential debate. Tickets to the debate will be extremely difficult to acquire, but that won’t stop Ron Paul supporters from attending the event and rallying outside. A Ron Paul rally will start two hours prior to the start of the debate which starts at 4pm. Everyone is encouraged to attend.

What is even more exciting is an announcement that Ron Paul will be speaking at the University of Michigan diag at 7pm following the debate. This is a wonderful opportunity to see Dr. Paul speak in person. I’m sure there will be a huge turnout.

Phew! That Was Close.

Monday, October 1st, 2007

Michigan’s government is back up after a 4 hour shut down resulting from the very inefficient nature of government itself. Like the antiquated steam engine that it is, it will likely take many weeks for the bureaucrats to get the government back to its unemployment-increasing, tax-money-wasting groove.

I wonder if we would have been required to pay state taxes while it was shutdown? I assume so.

They should have no trouble finding a use for the additional revenue they’ll be getting from the 0.45% income tax increase.

Did anyone actually think that the budget would be cut rather than a tax increase? I’m not sure that ever happens. It’s actually quite silly to even call it a budget. It’s more like a suggested minimum spending limit.
