McCain has been taking a lot of heat lately for owning more homes than he can count. Sure, having to consult your staff to get an accurate tally of the homes you own is bizarre; and owning that many(8?) homes is not something typical Americans can relate to; but I fail to see how this particular fact, being touted by the Obama campaign, is supposed to contrast the two candidates.
Obama may be able to count his mansions on one finger without consulting his staff, but his net worth (though considerably less than that of McCain’s) is still well above that of average Americans’. How he invests his millions is no one’s business but his own, and the same should be true of McCain.
And last I checked, there was no shortage of homes in the US. In fact, you might have noticed that the housing bubble that recently burst, begot an overabundance of new homes; many of which are now vacant. So we don’t need to worry about McCain hogging all the houses.

It may not separate the two candidates, but it does poke a hole in McCain’s bogus “everyman” persona.
I guess I never associated that persona with McCain. but, yeah, for someone who mistakenly does, that might shed a little light.

I love how the media picks up on something and the people fall “lock-step” into the agenda. McCain stated he wasn’t sure of the number of home “HE” owned because he’s married to a very wealthy woman who owns several homes and he simply didn’t know who the homes were deeded to. Because of an agreement made prior to the marriage, McCain may not “personally” own some of the homes. Regardless, I think the dead horse is still dead.
that’s true…these things are overblown on both sides, and largely irrelevant. people really feed into that stuff. it’s easier than confronting the important issues that really effect us.
In response to DF, the “everyman” persona to which you refer, is only bogus in that a society that makes it IMPOSSIBLE for its citizens to attain lofty goals. The point is, in this country, the potential still exists. Of course, if Obama and his Socialist/Communist agenda were to be furthered, that would become impossible for the average citizen.
I don’t doubt that the American Dream exists, I just don’t like it when the elite son of an elite son pretends that he is one of us when his backstory and voting record prove otherwise.
